There’s nothing quite like a sweet treat after dinner, and while shop-bought desserts can hit the spot, a homemade pudding is unbeatable, especially when entertaining guests. One simple yet decadent dessert you can whip up at home is chocolate mousse.
There are countless recipes to choose from, each requiring just a few ingredients. But Gordon Ramsay’s version of the dish makes use of an extra ingredient for added creaminess. His straightforward four-ingredient chocolate mousse recipe, first published in Gordon Ramsay’s Ultimate Fit Food, includes avocados – a fruit usually linked with brunch and savoury dishes.
However, avocados are more versatile than you might think, adding richness, creaminess and a smooth texture to chocolate mousse.
They’re a great source of fibre, healthy fats, and various vitamins and minerals, aiding everything from digestion and weight management to heart health.
Here’s what you’ll need to try Gordon Ramsay’s recipe at home.
Gordon Ramsay’s avocado chocolate mousse recipe
Ingredients
- Two large ripe avocados, peeled and stoned
- Three to four tbsp runny honey, to taste
- One tsp vanilla extract
- 50g raw cacao powder
Blend the avocados in a food processor until smooth. Add three tablespoons of honey, vanilla and cacao powder and blend again until fully combined.
Taste the mixture at this point and add more honey if desired.
Decant the mousse into eight shot glasses or similar-sized containers and chill them in the fridge for an hour before serving.
