‘I ate the same Tesco lunch every day to lose 16lbs’

Many individuals struggle to put together nutritious lunches while at the office or on the move.

This means many settle for a straightforward sandwich, which can often have more calories than we realise. However, one Tesco customer has revealed how she shed 16lbs in 15 weeks by purchasing the same lunch from the retailer every day.

Fitness instructor Hawys D, who posts on Instagram as @coaching_in_hd, frequently shares her weight loss strategies with over 51,400 followers on the platform. In one of her recent reels, she revealed what she purchases from Tesco to satisfy her appetite during her lunch hour.

The reel starts with a shot of the coach outside a Tesco Express outlet with a shopping bag. Overlay text reads: “What I buy for lunch – Little Tesco Edition. 16lbs down in 15 weeks.”

She can then be seen perusing the sandwich section as she remarks: “This might surprise you, but I’m not gonna go for a meal deal.”

She continued: “These salads and sandwiches are packing nearly 500 calories, and even the healthy high protein options could still set you back nearly 1,000 calories.

“Whilst you shouldn’t be scared of calories, if you need 1,500 calories to lose weight, then you’re having nearly two thirds of your allowance in one meal.

“So instead, I’m moseying to the refrigerated section and buying some pre-cooked chicken. I prefer the seasoned one, but you can get plain.”

The fitness guru revealed that half a pack of the chicken contains “around 30 grams of protein.” She combined this with a microwaveable packet of Ben’s Original Favourite Chicken Flavour Rice, stating, “Half a pack is around 170 calories,” and added, “More filling with fewer calories than a sandwich.”

To ‘add volume and fibre to keep her full’, the social media sensation opted for a packet of sweet and crisp side salad. However, she suggested that if you’re “feeling fancy”, you could swap it for a pack of microwaveable veggies.

She then declared: “Finally, I’m gonna grab a massive bottle of water to keep me hydrated.”

Hawys admitted that her items had “cost a little bit more” than a meal deal, as she revealed her total was £5.80. But she argued: “Realistically, I’m only going to be eating half the rice and half the chicken, meaning per portion, it has actually worked out cheaper and a lot more filling than a regular meal deal – actually helping me stick to my calories.”

Following up in the caption, she said: “Fat loss lunch hacks. I have a BIG appetite, so a 800kcal meal deal just isn’t going to keep me full…⁣”

People were loving her post, with it racking up thousands of likes. One person exclaimed: “This is quite literally the content I need,” while another said it was “really helpful”.

A third also agreed, saying: “This is really helpful! I find myself on these situations, so thank you.”
